Major artificial intelligence chatbots provide inaccurate or distorted news information approximately 45% of the time, according to a significant international study coordinated by the European Broadcasting Union. The research, which involved analysis of more than 3,000 AI responses by professional journalists, reveals concerning patterns of error across popular platforms including ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity.
